Thanks for giving [Jonny Reck]

When I came to know Christ, food tasted better. I don’t think there was anything different about the food I ate or how I ate it – I simply came to understand that it was God who made it possible for me to enjoy and appreciate what tasted so good and cured my hunger. It was this time so early on in my walk that I first realized that it’s through God’s desire to see us content and joyful in Him that we’re provided what we truly need, what satisfies us, and what makes us complete.

I know my view of food is just a small example, but I’m writing on this because I’m hearing so much about being thankful and appreciative lately. I’ll tell you what I’m most thankful for: that Christ made it possible for each of us to no longer be separated by sin from a God that loves us. Life tastes better knowing that God came to rescue each of His children – that we’re no longer separated, but embraced into God’s family. Isaiah 53:5 says:

“But He was wounded for our transgressions;
He was crushed for our
iniquities;
Upon Him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
And by
His stripes we are healed.”
He took the bullet for us. Jesus died so that we can live.

Embrace the God who wants so desperately for people to turn to Him. Remember this. Treasure this. Take time today to give thanks for what God had to give in order for people like ourselves to be healed, forgiven, restored, made new.

Great post, Jonny!

It is amazing to me how many times I don't give thanks with a truly grateful heart for the work of the Cross!

A restored relationship with the God of the Universe...there is no greater gift!
